MURMU SM is a social engineer, sportsman, environmentalist, a change maker and a philosopher, but he is first and fore most a visionary social thinker who provokes others to think and strongly believes & advocates one must pay back to the society. As per him, the oxygen we breathe is also not free in which our life exist. It is the fruit of sustained environment that our fore fathers have preserved.

He obtained his Bachelor of Technology (Hons.) degree from IIT Kharagpur and Master in Industrial Management form IIT Madras. During his academic studies he has been football player par excellence which earned him the IIT Blue for sportsmanship. He carried this performance at national level too during his professional career.

To be a part of the best institution is a way of life for Murmu, be it educational, community related, industrial enterprises or sports. Murmu has deployed his 3600 transformational leadership qualities in running through the Institution he serves or associated with, gets to the top. Self motivated with fire to uplift the people below the poverty line and preserving the environment has been his hall mark. His present inspiring role has been a personal example to show case to his brethren, back home in ORISSA (one of the poorest state in India), that’s believing in self, can get you what you desire.

With humble value base beginning in small obscured village of North ORISSA and as a proud Indian, imbibing the diverse multicultural tolerance of IIT, as well as learning the superior professional management practices of Japanese Industry for two decades has helped him to innovate many management practices within the organization and beyond. Delighting customer’s customer of the business enterprises has been his mantra which has earned him many accolades from customers and business associates.

Being a person with humility and heart filled with concerns for the deprived class of our social pyramid, Murmu has endeared himself to many, which has blessed him with excellent network of friends in IIT Alumni globally, political thinkers, administrators, environmentalist, spiritual thinkers and sports men around the world.

Murmu is a founder of a Rural social organization(www.kherwal.org) focusing on social & agro forestry, empowering rural youth, rural sanitation, orphanage and water harvesting. In the social forestry the rural folks have been trained to show respect & preserve the nature. His vision is to regenerate the primal form of forest that has passed into oblivion and to encourage a self reliant and self sustaining rural economy. The orphan children are being trained to be self reliant on a sustainable basis, so that they don’t require the crutches of society. His vision is not to provide fish for eating or not to teach how to catch fish but to make a fish catching society, so that every one in the society can catch and eat fish on sustainable basis. He also strongly believes Sports for a Social change & conducts regular Rural Sports Festival to involve rural youths & to harness their energy in community development activities.

He has been invited by former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam for a high tea in 2006. In 2007 the Hon’ble CM of Delhi Mrs. Shiela Dixit honoured him for his social work. He is passionately involved in various activities of his ALMA MATER IIT Kharagpur on sustainable basis. He is driving a Global IIT Alumni initiative in Social Infrastructure Development venture (www.mapiitiimalumni.com) in Eastern Zone of India, having primary focus on providing simple technical local solution to the rural poor, empowering tribals & training primary and secondary school teachers of Rural India, local skill upgradation & to provide high quality education to the deprived class of our society having a global vision with local sustainable solution. He has traveled many countries like Australia, Africa, Europe, Singapore, Thailand & has visited all most all the rural India & interacted with Primitive Tribal Group of India. One of his dream is to bring these Primitive Tribal Group in to main stream of our society. He has been involved in Delhi’s road traffic, to bring about an intelligence traffic management solution and also in National Road Safety Mission. .
